STEP Two: Category

This is going to seem counterintuitive, but the section of the platform we are changing is NOT Race, LGBTQ, and Economic Justice.

Check the box next to Civil, Human, and Constitutional Rights. This is the section we are changing.

STEP Three: THE Wording

The Resolution Title is “Rights to Gender Affirming Care.” Please copy and paste the wording below into the resolution box.

The Resolution Language:

Amend the section on Civil, Human, and Constitutional Rights to include the following language about gender affirming care: “the rights of trans, non-binary, and two-spirit individuals to access gender affirming care” so that the section will now read as follows:

Government interference in all matters related to the control of one’s own body, including protections of the rights of women to bear children, practice birth control and obtain safe and legal abortions, the rights of trans, non-binary, and two-spirit individuals to access gender affirming care, and the rights of patients and their families, guardians, and physicians to honor a decision not to extend life by artificial means.

STEP Four: THE support

We’ve provided some suggested language below for the explanation of support. Feel free to write your own explanation or borrow ours.

We are in a moment where trans rights and trans individuals are being targeted by policies from the highest levels of government. Minnesota has laws making us a trans refuge state that will not cooperate with investigations into care administered here sought by people from states where it is banned. It is unconscionable that protection of trans rights to that care has not been explicitly adopted into our platform document and it is incumbent upon the party to take an unequivocal stand on this issue by incorporating it into our platform.

ON CAUCUS NIGHT

Submit your resolution when prompted to by your chair! There may be a small debate - three people are allowed to speak for the resolution and three against. Your precinct will then take a vote and either pass or decline the resolution.

We will have a form for you to fill out once caucuses are over so we can track where the resolution passed. Thank you!
