The DFL has a transphobia problem.

WE NEED A CHANGE.

We cannot have a big tent if marginalized genders (trans, intersex, non-binary, and two spirit) are not welcome in the party. We must make trans inclusion explicit and mandatory.

Trans members report being harassed in bathrooms at events, misgendered at meetings, and told their issues will “alienate” rural voters.

We know these aren’t DFL values.

It’s time to hold the party leadership accountable. The trans community is being targeted by the Trump administration and our healthcare and ability to live and move freely is under attack.

It’s time for the DFL to step up.

The first step?

changing the party platform.

The party platform is the document that lays out our values as a party, and governs what DFL politicians abide by as they make decisions about our state. We currently have explicit language about reproductive autonomy and end of life care, but nothing about bodily autonomy for transgender individuals. We need to change that.

Changing the code of conduct and bylaws is an extended, intricate process. But resolutions to change the platform are straightforward.

Changing the platform will make it easier to change the code of conduct in the future.

We need dedicated volunteers from across Minnesota to shepherd this process through.

We need your help.

The State Convention is where these changes can happen. We need delegates from across the state to commit to making the party a better place for transgender people with these specific asks.
